As you heard on the shows on Platform Nation, we are giving away a free Xbox 360. This is what you have to do to enter to win. Tell ME in no less then 100 words why Platform Nation Rocks!! That is it, thats all you have to do. I will be judging on creativity and spelling (I suck ass spelling to but I still use spell check). At first it was anyone that could enter but staff, BUT I decided to let staff go for the win too, so anyone can win but me sad.gif . So post your essay right here on this thread and you will be entered to win. Oh and before I forget, we also have a runner up prize as well, now it isn't quite as good as an Xbox 360 but its still awesome, the runner will win Halo 2 collectors edition signed by Incubus!! So start writing those essays or 100 words and this will go on for 2 weeks, till Feb 11 at midnight pacific time.

Hey if you guys can also do me a favor, see that digg this button up there^, if you could digg this and tell all your friends to help spread the word, that would be awesome, thanks

And thanks to the awesome guys at Gamerscore Blog for making this possible, and to TeeTocks for informing me of this contest.

BTW all you cod4 gamers, we are announcing a cod4 tournament next week with some prizes in that as well, so stay tuned

I once had a dream where online play could be so interacting and give me such a great feeling. Platform Nation helped me achieve this. It's a dream come true. A compilation of everything good in life. An unbiased community where you can come and enjoy and good ole' time with friends. A great Xbox Live and Internet presence. Platform Nation has a great bunch of guys behind the scenes running everything and making sure everything is to the top of it's game. They always give out prizes and have a Saturday Night gaming night which is always 100% pure fun. There are no hard feelings here, everyone gets along without a fight. We all talk about how we, the gamer, feel about certain subjects and what we feel should be done about things. I hope Platform Nation continues to thrive and makes it all the way to the top. Long Live Platform Nation!

So "Staff" can enter too, eh? I can always use another 360 as MS Support backup.

This wasn't my entry.

It was my first date in 3 years. She was a goddess. Zeus' knees would buckle at the sight of her magnificence. She told me her name was Platform Nation when we met at a NKOTB concert. I thought it was an odd name at first, but a name is a name. A beautiful woman is a beautiful woman. I took her to a quaint locally-owned sushi resturant, where we shared our deepest feelings on everything from favorite Street fighter II character to favorite male on male love scene in a movie. It was as if we were one in the same already. Afterward, I escorted her home, where she asked the question I had been hoping for the whole night. "Will you come inside and register? Everything you could ever hope for is here." The rest is history. We're still together, as happy as the moment our eyes locked. She does have a lot of suscribers, however, but I don't care. We are meant for each other.

My entry essay: smile.gif

I have been saving for an Xbox 360 console for three years. I have finally gotten $450 to purchase one but have found out that there is untold failure rates. I have doubts that I would want to BUY a system with hard earned money just to have it die on me.

Why does Platform Nation "Rock"? The biggest reason is because a bunch of fans have gathered together to help fellow gamers to form a gaming community for gamers. You provided insight into the goings on in the video gaming world. Platform Nation gives us interviews and articles that provide us information we need to know. Platform Nation gives us a voice when official companies ignore their consumers. Platform Nation provides the video gaming world reviews and previews into video gaming products to help consumers make informed decisions. Platform Nation rocks because you provide your precious time and resources and ask nothing back in return.

Why is Platform Nation so awesome? Platform Nation is providing a contest to give away an Xbox 360 console. I am sure other people in the world would like a free Xbox 360 so I probably have a slim chance of winning it. I could use the $450 on something more needed than entertainment. I do not drink alcohol, smoke, or do drugs. I do not go out to bars or dance halls. My entertainment is board games, video games, an occasional trip to the theater, and helping my family. Platform Nation would be allowing me to have an Xbox 360.

Giving away a 360 (already a couple of solid entries btw) and a CoD4 tourney announced within days of each other, this should set records for new members.

By the way, that was not my official entry wink.gif

Patches1223's Contest Entry

I think Platform Nation is awesome because it is one of the only websites that gives me all the information about gaming. It gave me information on the Playstation 3 I recently purchased. I watch all of the new videos posted every week. It is one of my favorite sites to go on, I usually visit it every time I'm on my computer. I Love the selection of different gaming videos i mostly like the videos about Playstation, since i own one myself. I have been trying to buy an Xbox 360 for the past year but i can't decide whether or not to buy it on the failure rate but now i've decided to get one but i don't have enough money. I wan't one because all of my friends have one and only one of my friends has a Playstation 3. Even though i love my playstation I still want to play with more or the people I know whick is to buy a Xbox 360 that I do not have enough money for. So i would be very greatful to recieve this Xbox in this contest so I can enjoy playing with all of my friends.

Thank You

So as I watched the latest video of Platform Nation I saw that they are giving away an Xbox 360 by just telling them how freaking awesome they are.

I say that Platform Nation rocks because of their community. Everyone is so helpful, nice and super cool. When you ask something, everyone tries their best to answer you.

Platform Nation has its unique videos with a unique name: "Gamers Video Update". Every video Platform Nation makes, has all the information you need. It's easy to understand, very helpful, and entertaining.

I went to church one day, and I asked God: "Should I buy this video game?" and he replied: "Don't ask me things I don't know, go to PlatformNation.com and you'll find the answer there". And after that day, I've come to a conclusion that God visits Platform Nation when he needs to buy a Video Game.

When someone said "Let there be light!" I replied: "No… let there be Platform Nation".

Thank You.
Yours,
X Teletubbie X

ssick92's entry
I have been to many gaming forums, but have yet to find a place as friendly and as chill as Platform Nation. I started by watching Steve's youtube videos, and then decided to go check out this "Platform Nation" that he always advertised. I thought, wow, this place is cool. I decided to sack up and register, so here I am posting my story of how I found P*N.

And there is the story of how I found this place. Now for the actual question.

Why does P*N rock?
Well, there have been lots of things that rock about P*N, and many reasons why I will stay here.
1. P*N gives away free shit! That rocks pretty freakin' hard.
2. Awesome people. That rocks pretty freakin' hard too.
3. Game updates that I wouldn't find anywhere else. That is a necessity.
4. A place where I can show off my photoshop skillz. Not a biggy, but fun.
5. Mods and admin that are awesome and don't ban you for the smallest thing.
6. A sweet shoutbox thing that no other gaming forum has.
7. There a a few ps3 users on here to get to know.

Now for my "feel sorry for me" section biggrin.gif
I am just a 16 year old kid who is missing out on parts of life because he cant afford a 360. I wish I had gotten a 360 instead of a ps3 for christmas, so I could play with all my friends that have a 360. Instead, I will be playing ps3 by my sad, lonesome self, wishing I had gotten a 360. BUT, you could change that biggrin.gif

if I win, I will do any photoshopping for any of the people who made the decision, no matter what.

Platform Nation has many qualities that distinguish it from other gaming groups. The biggest reason for me is the fact that I can count on objective opinions from all of you. Although I listen to many different podcasts from many different sites, I know that I can confidently visit Platform Nation and not listen to MVP’s that will defend Microsoft to death. The podcasts on there talk about all systems and all games. That alone makes Platform Nation an aammaazziinngg place to visit.

Furthermore, Platform Nation introduced me to The Fanboys, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. I literally laugh uncontrollably when I listen to those guys, and tales from the g-string is a classic segment. The podcasts on PN have a great sense of humor, not to mention their down to earth personality, as if I am listening to a bunch of friends talk about gaming (instead of Microsoft shills marketing product). I have listened to other podcasts that are so dry and scripted, that I had no choice but to stop listening. Steve, your Gamers Video Update is a great way to provide news to listeners quickly and efficiently. It is great to be able to get the weeks news in 5-10 minutes (and in video form).

I also enjoy the fact that you provide me with information that I am not aware of. I understand that it is hard to find exclusive information, especially in the world of video games where pretty much everyone has the same info. However, you still provide information that I have not seen. For example, A few weeks ago you posted the Seattle Times article on the Red Rings of Death, a very interesting read for me since that topic applies to me directly (unfortunately). I would not have found that article otherwise. Also, a few days ago you posted the video on lag switches. I knew that they existed and that people used them, but that video explained a few things to me that I did not understand.

Lastly, I truly believe Platform Nation is a place where all gamers can get together, regardless of what video game platform they prefer. It is a place where I can find other gamers like myself, who enjoy all systems and just like to game. A place where gamers understand that a good game is a good game no matter what system it is on.

*** you know Steve, I'm kind of disappointed that you cut it down, I would have written a thousand words without a problem, but then again you can't be reading essay after essay for days, so I understand. ***

Why does Platfom Nation Rock? Let me count the ways. Platform Nation is the nexus of information, entertainment, personality, and community. Going back to the origins of Platform Nation we must pay tribute to the pioneers that blazed the trail to the heights that Platform Nation has achieved. XBL Radio brought us Mr. Carpal Tunnel with his quick wit, and spot on comedic timing, The Other Guy's gentle southern humor, and his endless anecdotes about the sport of bicycling. And who can forget the dulcet tones of one Rusty Ranchero who regaled us with tales of Geometry Wars, and Shadow Run, and taught us that you dont have to actually play games to be the host of a gaming podcast.
As Platform Nation evolved, saying goodbye to some of our old comrades exposed us to new talents, and allowed us to expand our cultural horizons. The Gamer's Pub brought us the boundless optimism of Gui-J whose enthusiastic verbal ejaculations were regularly extinguished by the soul crushing negativity of Steve519. From the mountain west we met the Fanboys whose send up of " A Night Before Chrismas" not only caused me to laugh until I could barely breathe, but also informed me of new porn sites that I might want to visit....Redtube? Thank you Fanboys. The Latin stylings of TQcast with Des and Filty were a welcome addition to the site. I found myself strangely drawn to the echoing sound effects, and I am still trying to find out where I can get one of those jumbo remotes. PSH radio and the Game Jocks taught us the we could be gamers, and still get girls. Can it get any better that? Thrillhouse brought us the perspective of an American gamer in Italy, and also a cool Simpsons reference in his gamertag. Bdazzler dazzled us with his graphical skills, even designing gamer cards for members who tried to write divisive posts in the forums.
Speaking of the forums, Platform Nation has done a great job of providing us with a place to air our opinions, predictions, complaints, and rumors. Another great feature of the site has been the video updates. Where else could meet Steve519's two dogs, and MrB4's new haircut while learning about the latest news in the world of gaming. The videos and pictures from PAX were fantastic, Rusty rapping, and vomiting in Steve519's sink, Steve519 schmoozing with Microsoft celebrities, and Mr. Carpal Tunnel in the great Northwest.
Platform Nation, like the great nation of America is a melting pot, bringing together many divergent elements of the gaming community in one common cause. Mixing and combining the talents of the many hosts and podcasts, the members of the forums, and the gaming world at large to create something better than the sum of its parts. United as The Platform Nation, the hosts and members of the site have created something truly unique in the gaming community. A site that truly encompasses all of gaming, where all are free to express their opinions, fanboy tendancies, biases, and passions. Thank you Platform Nation for providing us with an online home, a place where we always feel welcome, a safe harbor even when our wives are angry at us for spending too much money on video games. I pledge my everlasting allegiance to the Platform Nation.

Shouldn't the essay be 360 words?

for 100 words, I'll echo Infected's sentiment, look at my 100 friends on my friend's list. OK, maybe not all 100 are from P*N, but most are, and I'd have more than 100 from the Nation if MS allowed more friends.

Maybe MS should add a second list of 100 as your Enemy's list. Thrillhouse would make that one tongue.gif

PS, I'll get an official entry later, after I use my Mod powers for evil and edit/delete all other entries...

to everyone!
You've just been...

First off I would just like to say Nihao! I think that means hello in Chinese or something. And even if it doesn't it's pretty cool to say it really loud when random people walk by. NIHAO! Oh by the way, it's pronounced NEE-HOW. I learned this from commercials on Nick Jr.

You should try it. All together now. You with me? NIHAO! NIHAO!

Long time reader, first time poster here. Cue the cow sounder boys! Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Thank you, thank you.

On to the meat of the subject. Why do I love Platform Nation? Because Mik and The Fanboys told me to, that's why. Those guys are awesome. And if they like the PN, then I like the PN. Sorry this hasn't been much of an essay, but more a gaggle of random thoughts pressed together into a bologna like concoction of a forum post, but that's just how I roll baby.

Speaking of the fanboys, they said I should use the word defenestration in this essay. Needless to say that word was nowhere to be found in my community college education so I had to use The Google to find out what it means. Turns out it's the act of throwing something out of a window in frustration. That's pretty cool that something like that actually happens enough that we needed to make a word to describe it. Unfortunately Mr. Webster didn't really get the word out there in the streets so everybody could get familiar with it. Sad really. But that's what you get when you leave the task of defining all the words in your language to a dwarfish child star from the 80's. Hopefully that Merriam chick will step up her game and help the little guy out some more in the future.

And there you have it. The first essay I've written since Composition 1101 at the Bowie(pronounced Booo-wee) County Community College.
